Domus Mazziniana

At the time the Nathan-Rosselli house, where Giuseppe Mazzinipolitician and hero who contributed to the creation of the Italian state, died as a fugitive, under the false name of Giorgio Brown, on 10 March 1872. Since 1910, it has been a National Monument and today, after the post-war reconstruction, it is the seat of the Domus Mazziniana, a museum full of documents on the unification of Italy and the history of Italian Risorgimento. The wall overlooking via d’Azeglio is decorated with relief writings: they are part of the full text of the oath of Giovine Italia, an association founded by Mazzini in 1831 and based on the ideals of equality and freedom. The museum preserves the only handwritten copy of the oath in Italy.
